Earlier this month I had resurrected my Hawker P.1216 profile art series that I had done back in 2006-2007 with Part 6, the P.1216 in the service of the US Marine Corps. For Part 7, I have moved my alternate history timeline forward to the mid-1990s in the Balkans with this set of profiles.

In the mid-1990s, the RAF's Harrier and Jaguar force received an all-over pale gray temporary camouflage scheme based on an alkali-removable temporary finish (ARTF) which figured prominently in...

Before I show the artwork for this post, I wanted to quote a bit of succinct but excellent history on RAF VC10 operations from Jelle Hieminga's wonderful website "A Little VC10derness":

Quote:
The link between the RAF and the VC10 had been strong from the beginning, as the RAF originated the requirement for the V.1000 Vickers was well aware of their requirements. Several developments in the airline VC10s were of interest to the RAF, especially the cargo door that Vickers had developed

JUST FOR FUN: RAF No. 32 (Royal) Squadron DHC-8-Q400

First, a brief history of the RAF Queen's Flight:

Originally formed in 1936 for King Edward VIII as the King's Flight, the squadron is tasked with the air transport of the Royal Family as well as senior government ministers. In 1944 No. 510 Squadron was redesignated the Metropolitan Communications Squadron to assume the King's Flight role and would eventually be based at RAF Northolt

Hawker P.1216 Profile Art/Part 3

In this prior entry I had posted some profile art of what the Hawker P.1216 might have looked like had it entered service in the late 1980s (and I'll qualify that with a historical correction I detailed in that prior blog entry). That was followed by this posting on the P.1216 as it might have looked circa 1990 in RAF service.

And as a primer on the P.1216 design, I also had written this technical history behind the P.1216's unique design.

Picking up again with the

In this entry from a few days ago I detailed the technical progression that took place from the existing Harrier design to the BAe Kingston's ultimate VSTOL fighter design, the Hawker P.1216. In a series of installments I'll be showing some of the profile art I created in the last year and a half that show how the P.1216 might have looked had it gone into production and entered service.

That said, these illustrations of mine postulate the P.1216 going into production with an in-service

Jet-X box designs (May 2007)

Posted 09-30-2007 at 12:35 AM by Sentinel Chicken (The Chicken Works: The Aviation Art of JP Santiago)

For those of you who collect 1/400 scale diecast jetliner models, I have been fortunate to have been offered the opportunity to create box art for the Jet-X Millennium Series of models. My artwork will also be used on Jet-X's new 1/200 scale line of diecast jetliner models as well. Box art that released back in May include:
